“Spalletti is the best person to revive Roma's fortunes,” the former Giallorossi striker declared in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“He's a great coach. He, [Zdenek] Zeman and [Antonio] Conte are the coaches that taught me more than anyone else - and I've had lots of good coaches in my career.”
Vucinic, who scored 64 goals in 203 games for AS Roma between 2006-07 and 2010-11, spent three years under Spalletti from the moment he joined from Lecce until the coach's departure in August 2009.
Reflecting on their years spent together in the Italian capital, the Montenegrin added: “It was a great experience. Roma were the first big team I joined after Lecce. We won two Coppa Italias and a Super Cup but we had a few regrets too - we had a fantastic team and deserved to win more than we did”.
The 32-year-old also spoke about the current Roma side.
“I hope they can get themselves back on track again soon. With the squad they have, they should be competing with the best teams in the league. They got off to a good start so they've already shown they can do it.”
