Roma have made significant improvements defensively since the defeat in Barcelona. The Giallorossi have conceded on average 0.75 goals-per-game since the trip to the Nou Camp (three conceded, two of which were penalties). This season Roma have only recorded a similar sequence in their first four matches of the campaign, against Hellas Verona, Juventus, Frosinone and Barcelona.
Roma are the first side to keep a clean sheet at the San Paolo in the league this season. Maurizio Sarri's team had only previously failed to find the net on two occasions, on their trips to Carpi and Genoa respectively.
The draw at Napoli has tipped the balance in Roma's favour in the club's five meetings against the Azzurri in the league with Rudi Garcia in the dugout. While at home, the Giallorossi have won two from two with three for and none against, Roma emerged from the San Paolo with a positive result for the first time - as well as a clean sheet - after losses in the last two seasons. Just like at the Olimpico, meetings at the San Paolo have produced three goals, all for the hosts.
Sunday's stalemate was Roma's 22nd draw away at Napoli. The Giallorossi have won 17 and lost 32 of their remaining matches in Campania. The goalless draw ended a run of four straight defeats at Napoli in all competitions, some way short of the sequence of seven consecutive losses at the San Paolo between January 1976 and 1982.
Sunday's game was the first time Roma and Napoli had drawn 0-0 since a goalless draw at the San Paolo in Serie A Week 26 on 9 April 1995. That said, 0-0 remains the most common scoreline between the two sides (23 from 161 meetings).
Sunday's shut-out was Roma's 44th clean sheet from 114 matches under Garcia (41 from 92 in the league, one from 16 in Europe and two out of six in the Coppa Italia). The Giallorossi haven't conceded in four of their 22 competitive games this term.
Sunday's draw confirmed Roma still have the edge in this fixture. Across 161 meetings in all competitions, Roma have won 63, drawn 53 and lost 46 (23 victories, 23 draws and 36 losses in Naples).
Miralem Pjanic made his 163rd appearance for the Giallorossi on Sunday, drawing level with Dino Da Costa. The Bosnian midfielder's 140 league matches see him equal Miguel Angel Pantò. Pjanic is now just one behind Francesco Rocca.
