Fans in Indonesia today responded on social media to Roma’s messages of support after Thursday’s bombings with a cheeky show of defiance

A series of explosions yesterday rocked the Indonesian capital of Jakarta – where Roma last summer played an exhibition match in front of over 20,000 fans - with gun battles also taking place on the streets.

The blasts, which occurred around Thamrin Street, a major shopping and business district close to the United Nations offices, were described by Indonesian President Joko Widodo as an "act of terror".

The hashtags #KamiTidakTakut – which translates as #WeAreNotAfraid - and #StandWithJakarta soon emerged in the aftermath of the attack and both were used by Roma on posts targeted to Indonesian fans on Twitter and Facebook.

While thousands of fans showed their appreciating by liking, retweeting or commenting on the posts, a number of fans – picking up on the #WeAreNotAfraid mood in Jakarta - stated they were more scared of Roma losing than the threat of terrorism.
