Alberto De Rossi: Roma must make derby impact

Alberto De Rossi has called on his Primavera side to approach Saturday's contest against Lazio in the right frame of mind without letting concentration drop

"Roma have to make a big impression on the game, just like we always have done, but we need calmness as well," declared the Primavera coach before the game. "We've mainly worked on the mental side of things during the week. There's less tension about the place, which was due to having so many matches tightly bunched together and this had a big say on our last two results."

The Giallorossi youngsters made a stunning start to the league but have endured losses against Pescara and Crotone in recent games.

"Defeats like these two can happen in a league where results are never influenced by the reputation of the team you're coming up against but by the performances on the pitch. The lads were missing a cool head. In fact, we lost the games from set pieces.

Having so many games in close succession can sap energy out of the team and it sometimes happens that you lose a bit of attention. If you're not at the top of your game in this competition, you can be beaten by anyone."

As for whether the Rome Derby will be a cause for concern or an inspiration for his team, the Roma U19 coach was totally clear.

"It's neither a cause for concern nor an inspiration. The boys should be fired up for every game, whether it's against Pescara or Crotone. Every fixture offers an opportunity to improve. They need to leave everything on the pitch against whoever it is in front of them to ensure their careers take off."

Roma will be missing players against Lazio but De Rossi isn't attaching too much importance to this.

“We shouldn't think too much about injuries or players that we're delighted to see joining the first team. There are so many other guys who are performing well day in day out."

Kick-off for the Week 11 match has been set at 13:00 CET in Trigoria on Saturday afternoon.
