Nadia Pelizza: “Juventus v Roma in 1983. Odoacre Chierico hooked in a cross, Roberto Pruzzo connected with an overhead kick and scored!!! I was 18 at the time (I'm 50 now!) and I was making some fresh orange juice at home... My dad – God bless his soul – was a huge Roma fan and he yelled out loud as he was listening to it on the radio. That's my memory of games against Juve and it's still crystal clear in my mind all these years later. Forza Roma forever!”
Massimo Decimo Meridio: “Juventus v Roma in 1980-81, that goal by [Maurizio] Turone that went down in history. The support we had up there that day was something I'd never seen before. Our end was completely decked out in yellow and red and when we scored half of the main stand jumped for joy too. [Francesco] Rocca got quite emotional just seeing all those fans there during the pre-match warm-up and afterwards people in the street were saying, ‘For you lot alone, Roma deserve to win the title’. That was a great feeling.”
Lorenzo Caruso: “Hidetoshi Nakata and Vincenzo Montella, 6 May 2001, Juve 2-2 Roma. Just over a month later we were celebrating our Scudetto triumph!”
Giancarlo Rossi: “Turin 1968, Roma won thanks to a goal by [Fabio] Capello. I was there that day and I left the stadium with my trousers rolled up because I was wearing one YELLOW sock and one RED sock. That was great.”
Francesco Lamanna: “Our 2-2 draw when Montella scored the year we won the Scudetto. I was only a kid at the time but I realised something special was going on and I celebrated loads. Every time I see that goal a shiver runs down my spine – part joy but a bit of melancholy too.”
Beppe Giola: “That 4-0 win when Totti waggled his four fingers in the air – an image that went around the globe. I've lived in Turin for 56 years and I'm a Roma supporter along with my grandson... my grandson! He's had all the Roma gear ever since he was born and his first photo was with a Roma ball. He's 11 now. He plays as a striker for Lucento and he's very good!”
Manuel Valentini: “That game in 2013 when Il Capitano unleashed a rocket. I was at the stadium and words just can't describe what I felt in that moment.”
Marco Modonnét: “I wasn't there but I've been told about it so many times it's as if I had been there. Serie A 1983-84, [Roberto] Pruzzo equalised with an overhead kick in stoppage time and [Sergio] Tacconi broke his fingers against the post trying to save it... It brought the house down.”
Domenico La Cava: “It has to be Roma v Juventus in August 2015. I was there with my five-year-old kid, a Romanista in Sicily surrounded by Juventini and Interisti. Personally I'd place it on a par with our 2-0 win in November 1998 when Paulo Sergio and [Vincent] Candela scored.”
Roberto Bobus: “My memory is from the year we won the Scudetto under president [Dino] Viola. Roma v Juve at the Stadio Olimpico. Roma took the lead but then Juve levelled and a few minutes from time [Sergio] Brio scored to hand victory to the Bianconeri. As he was celebrating a German Shepherd police dog bit him. That bite was symbolic of the character the team had. Even though they were hurt, they fought back like that dog, biting at the ankles of all the opponents they met afterwards and ending the year as Italian champions.”
