Dzeko: Ready for the run-in

Dzeko: Ready for the run-in

Nine matches to try and secure Champions League qualification. Roma are preparing for the home stretch in Serie A with Edin Dzeko coming into form at just the right time

"I'm ready," said the Giallorossi hitman. "In the past, the last few months of the league season have always gone well for me at my previous clubs. Now we have to focus as a team until the end of the season. To be honest, I don't pay much attention to what people say, I just try and do my job."

The Bosnian centre forward's goal at Udinese was his fourth in his last five league appearances. He now has nine in all competitions for the campaign, seven in Serie A and two in the Champions League.

"The stats are in my favour and I've scored four goals in the recent games I've started in the league. Obviously you can always improve but what matters is the team are playing well and winning."

You put in a complete performance.

"It's important to break the deadlock in matches like these and score the opening goal quickly. I'm pleased with our win on a personal level and from a team perspective."

There were 4,000 fans cheering you on out there today.

"The fans have always backed me and I have to repay their faith with goals. The team are currently performing very well and I think the fans should be happy about that."

Are you pleased Luciano Spalletti handed you another chance?

"He picked me to start and I can only thank him. I put in a good performance today just like the rest of the team and I'd say the coach was right to pick me."
