"My main objective is to go to the Euros. I came to Roma for this reason – to get back into the frame and boost my career."
Stephan El Shaarawy – speaking while on international duty with Italy – came to Rome during the January transfer window and believes playing for the Giallorossi is a fundamental stepping stone towards nailing down his spot on the plane for France 2016.
"I've always been convinced that mentality and hunger to succeed are more important in a footballer's career than talent. You have to be concentrated on your job. If you don't nurture your talent with a healthy, athletic lifestyle you'll never reach the top level. Attitude is what makes the difference."
Born in Savona in 1992, Stephan also spoke about Egypt, the land of his father's birth.
"When I was little, my family decided to travel all around Egypt. It left a big impression on me and I'm not just talking about the countryside or history. We went to see my father's relatives and he's got loads. I received such a warm welcome from them and this created a really strong bond with that country for me."
