“We know how the boss wants us to play,” the Giallorossi No.8 said after Roma’s 4-1 win over Fiorentina on Friday night. “We’re all aware of how we need to play and that’s not an easy thing to achieve. He’s instilled desire and fight within every one of us.”
Perotti, who scored Roma’s third goal on 38 minutes, was taken off as precaution in the 62nd minute after feeling some tension in his left calf muscle.
“We did a fantastic job against one of the best sides in the league,” continued Perotti. “Scoring four goals – three of them in the first half – was amazing.”
How did your new position come about?
“Well, I played as a trequartista at Genoa too. I had to drop back a bit tonight because Fiorentina pass the ball very well. They lost Borja Valero during the game and he’s a vital player for them, but I think we had a wonderful performance all through the team tonight.”
Can this performance give you a boost ahead of the Real Madrid match?
“We know it’s not going to be easy – we need to score twice and avoid conceding. We’ll have to play our game and make sure we don’t leave them any space in behind because they can hurt you on the counter. But we’re going there to go for it.”
What have you brought to this Roma side?
“I came here with lots of enthusiasm because it’s a massive step in my career. Joining a club like Roma, returning to the Champions League, fighting at the top of the table… for me it’s a huge opportunity. My team-mates have given me a great welcome and that’s been really important for me.”
