Madrid v Roma: Three opposition players to watch

Bale’s return from injury could prove decisive for los blancos. The Welsh international has already scored 14 goals and created eight assists in La Liga and the Champions League so far this season. At the weekend, he scored within 16 minutes of coming on during Real’s 7-1 win over Celta Vigo. With 3.2 shots per game, Bale’s presence is likely to pose a constant threat for Roma’s backline.

Marcelo

The 27-year-old is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career; during this campaign, he’s won 50 tackles, made 43 successful interceptions and registered 31 clearances. Marcelo loves to press forward, as he demonstrated at Stadio Olimpico with his assist, but if he over-commits in pressing Roma’s flanks, Spalletti’s side could prosper on the counter-attack.

Isco

Deployed in no less than five different positions already this season, Isco has been fundamental to Real Madrid’s success. The midfielder has scored two goals, laid on six more, created 35 chances and completed 770 passes this season - with a pass accuracy rate of 89%. Able to press high in the midfield when Madrid are in possession, Isco will look to provide the key pass to maneuver his teammates towards goal.
