Alberto De Rossi was torn between frustration over two points dropped and satisfaction with his side's mature performance in the Primavera's 1-1 draw away against Lanciano this morning.
"The boys played almost perfectly," began the Giallorossi coach in his post-match assessment. "They came through a lot of difficulties but once the deadlock was broken, a team as good as ours should not have conceded the equaliser."
The home side put in an excellent defensive effort which created problems for the Giallorossi, who stayed patient and professional and managed to take the lead in the 55th minute through Emanuele Ndoj. Within a quarter of an hour, however, Lanciano drew themselves level thanks to Manuel Serafini.
"Lanciano were impeccably organised and there wasn't a centimetre of space in which to play. We did well to stay calm and showed maturity, desire, pressure, good passing and quality dribbling.
"We took the lead and then had chances to double our advantage. But it's not inconceivable that a team like ours will offer chances for an equaliser. We're frustrated about that."
Ahead of the result in the Frosinone game, Empoli's win over Latina has allowed the Tuscan outfit to close the gap from Roma in top spot to just five points.
"We mustn't think about other teams. We are doing very well, we're at the top of the league and we've put a lot of players in the shop window.
"The team is fine, we got through a tough period due to absentees by changing the way we play. Overall we're very pleased but not about today's result."
