After coming on as a late substitute against Palermo, Diego Perotti set up Edin Dzeko for the Giallorossi's fifth of the night to take his personal tally to two assists and one goal in five appearances for Roma (four Serie A, one Champions League).

Roma put an end to Sunday's Serie A Week 26 contest by scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half. The last time they managed three in the first 30 minutes of the second period was in a 3-1 win over Empoli in October earlier this season.

Roma had beaten Palermo by a four-goal margin four times before Sunday night's 5-0 thrashing. The first was a 5-1 victory way back in May 1935 (doubles by Enrique Guaita and Alejandro Scopelli and a consolation strike by Ernesto Tomasi). That was followed by three 4-0 wins, first in Palermo in November 1962 (a Pedro Manfredini hat-trick and one from Antonio Valentin Angelillo), then a Coppa Italia tie in Rome in August 1989 (Rudi Voeller, Giuseppe Giannini and Ruggiero Rizzitelli with two) and finally in a Serie A encounter in the capital in December 2006 (a brace apiece from Mancini and Francesco Totti).

Against Palermo Roma racked up their fifth straight league win, two and a half years on from their last 5-0 triumph in Serie A. Bologna were on the receiving end of that drubbing at the Olimpico on 29 September 2013.

With three goals in his last three games and a first brace in Roma colours against Palermo, Edin Dzeko took his tally for the campaign to eight. The Bosnian hitman, who also laid on an assist for Mohamed Salah against the Sicilians, has struck six times in Serie A and twice in the Champions League in his debut season with the Giallorossi.

Thanks to his two-goal haul against Palermo, Mohamed Salah becomes the second Roma player to reach double figures in all competitions this season after Miralem Pjanic. The Egyptian wideman – with nine league goals and one in the Champions League – is the 138th player in Giallorossi history to reach ten goals in competitive matches, joining Mario Bussich, Sergio Andreoli, Raoul Bortoletto Franco Zaglio, Lamberto Leonardi, Fabio Enzo, Stefano Pellegrini (1953), Odoacre Chierico, Marcos Assuncao and Fabio Borini on the same figure.

With Seydou Keita poking home the Giallorossi's second in the 5-0 demolition of Palermo, Roma have now had 18 different goalscorers (including Gervinho and Juan Manuel Iturbe) in Serie A this season. The total goes up to 19 if we add in cup competitions, as Vasilis Torosidis was on target against BATE Borisov in the Champions League.

33

Kevin Strootman's substitute appearance against Palermo means 33 players have featured at least once for Roma this season. Meanwhile Miralem Pjanic and Lucas Digne both hit the 30-game mark in all competitions at the Olimpico on Sunday night, joining Kostas Manolas (32), Alessandro Florenzi (31) and Radja Nainggolan (31) in that select group.

Against Palermo, Roma took their total number of league and cup goals for the season past the 60 mark – 63 goals from 34 games to be precise. Last year the Giallorossi made it to 60 in their 45th game, Sassuolo 0-3 Roma on 29 April 2015 and reached 65 with a 2-1 win over Udinese on 17 May.

Roma v Palermo saw Luciano Spalletti notch his 80th victory in competitive fixtures at the Olimpico as Giallorossi boss. He now has 55 league wins, 15 triumphs in European competitions and 10 in the Coppa Italia, with 238 goals scored and 108 conceded at home. In his second term in the Roma dugout, he has won three, drawn one and lost one of five home games, scoring 11 and conceding five.

Kevin Strootman was met with acclaim when he came on for Maicon in the second half against Palermo, 392 days after his last appearance in a competitive match – Fiorentina 1-1 Roma on 25 January 2015. The Dutch midfielder got his Giallorossi career going again with his 37th appearance.

2011

Prior to Mohamed Salah and Edin Dzeko grabbing themselves a brace apiece against Palermo, the last two Roma players to both notch a double in the same match were Marco Borriello and Mirko Vucinic. They shared the goals in a 4-2 defeat of Catania on 6 January 2011.
