“Roma have rediscovered their confidence and achieved results thanks to the new coach,” declared Astori, speaking to the AS Roma official match programme. “Spalletti already knew the club well and that’s been a really important factor for him.”
Astori turned out for the Giallorossi last season, making 30 appearances and scoring one goal in his time at the club.
“My season at Roma was an important year in my career, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to achieve a high level of consistency. I’m on good terms with lots of the players and speak to Daniele De Rossi often.”
It promises to be an enthralling contest on Friday night, as Roma and Fiorentina – currently level in third spot on 53 points apiece – continue their push for Champions League qualification.
“It’s going to be an advert for Serie A. Both teams are in rude health so I’m sure it’s going to be a great match at the Olimpico. We’re meticulously preparing for the game, focusing on every little detail and as ever we’ll be looking to get the three points,” said Astori.
