Dzeko: Every match is a final

Edin Dzeko believes Roma have 12 finals left to play as they go into the last three months of the season

“If we want to achieve our objectives we need to keep winning,” the Bosnian forward said after Sunday night’s 5-0 defeat of Palermo. “We have 12 league matches left and we need to treat each of them like a final, starting from our next game against Empoli.”

Dzeko missed a fantastic chance to open the scoring in the 28th minute against Palermo on Sunday, but showed great mental strength to remain unaffected and find the net just two minutes later to set Roma on their way to a fine win.

“That’s football. Sometimes you miss easy chances but at the end of the day I’ve scored two goals. I’ve got three goals from my last two league games and I just need to keep it up.”

The Giallorossi striker also believes Roma are well and truly on the right track going into the latter stages of the season.

“We’re in good shape. We scored five goals tonight and, most importantly, we won the game. We’re on the right track and we’re just focusing on the next game. All the matches are difficult but we have three months left until the end of the season and we need to be going after the three points every time we play.”
