10. Enrico Albertosi: 532

The legendary goalkeeper of Cagliari’s 1970 Scudetto triumph, Enrico Albertosi began his professional career with Fiorentina, where he made 185 appearances. Albertosi then joined Cagliari, playing 177 times before joining AC Milan, where he made 170 appearances and won another Scudetto crown. A European Championship winner with Italy in 1968, Albertosi also won three Coppa Italias and one Cup Winners’ Cup.

The leading scorer in Serie A history with 274 goals, Silvio Piola made 537 appearances between 1929 and 1954. Piola played 127 times for Pro Vercelli, 227 times for Lazio, 28 times for Juventus and 155 times for Novara. He won the World Cup with Italy in 1938.

A prodigiously talented forward, Roberto Mancini began his career at Bologna, making 30 appearances. Yet Mancini is perhaps best remembered for his time at Sampdoria, where he made 424 appearances and won the Scudetto in 1991. From Sampdoria Mancini then joined Lazio, where he played 87 times and won another Scudetto in 2000 before retiring on 541 Serie A appearances overall. As well as the two league titles, Mancini won six Coppa Italias, two Italian Super Cups, two Cup Winners’ Cups and one UEFA Super Cup.

Another legend of the Italian game, Pietro Vierchowod is fondly remembered in Rome for being one of the key figures in the Giallorossi’s Scudetto triumph in 1982-83, his sole season with the club. As well as the 30 appearances he made for Roma, Vierchowod played 30 times for Como, 28 times for Fiorentina, 358 times for Sampdoria (where he won another Scudetto, four Coppa Italias, one Italian Super Cups and one Cup Winners’ Cups), 21 times for Juventus (where he won an Italian Super Cups and a Champions League), 16 times for AC Milan and finally 79 times for Piacenza. He was also a member of the Azzurri squad that won the World Cup in 1982.After 562 games played, Vierchowod finally retired in 2000 at the age of 41.

One of the most iconic Italian goalkeepers of all time, Dino Zoff made 570 appearances in Serie A before calling it a day at the age of 41. Zoff made four appearances for Udinese, 93 for Mantova and 143 for Napoli before going on to play 330 times for Juventus, winning six Scudetto titles, two Coppa Italias and one UEFA Cup during his time with the Bianconeri. He captained Italy to World Cup glory in 1982, as well as winning the Euros in 1968.

Pagliuca later moved to Inter, making a further 165 appearances and helping the Nerazzurri to UEFA Cup triumph. He also played 206 times for Bologna and 23 times for Ascoli. The goalkeeper with most Serie A appearances of all time, Pagliuca retired from football in 2007 at the age of 41.

Francesco Totti made his 600th Serie A appearance on Saturday 9 January 2016 as he came on as a substitute against Chievo. Totti is the leading Serie A goalscorer still playing the game, with 248. Silvio Piola is the all-time leading goalscorer on 274. A Roma man for his entire professional career, Totti has won one Scudetto, two Coppa Italias and two Italian Super Cup at club level, tasting World Cup glory with Italy in 2006.

Renowned as a model professional and an exemplary captain, Zanetti made 615 appearances in Serie A – all of them for Inter – and won five Scudetto titles, four Coppa Italias, five Italian Super Cups, one UEFA Cup, one Champions League and one Club World Cup.
