Roma Primavera set themselves the objective of competing for the title and they're well on course to achieving that aim. A lot of credit should go to goalkeeper Lorenzo Crisanto, who made a key contribution to the win against Inter with his penalty save.
“We've worked all throughout the year to reach this point,” declared the 18-year-old Primavera star. “At the start of the season we said this had to be our year. We hope it will be.”
There was another roller-coaster ride of emotions at Mapei Stadium on Tuesday evening. The game finished 2-2 at the end of normal time, and then 3-3 after extra time, before the Primavera eventually booked their spot in the championship final after the sixth round of penalties in the shootout.
“It was a huge performance from every aspect," Crisanto said. "We were always in control of the game and I think we deserved to win.”
He also praised the team spirit in the Giallorossi camp: “As a group, we're fiercely protective of each other. We put our hearts into it out on the pitch.”
Roma now have to wait and see who they will face in the Primavera final, which will be held on Saturday 4 June at Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia. The other semi-final between Juventus and reigning champions Torino takes place on Wednesday evening.
