‘A Scuola di Tifo’ with William Vainqueur to say no to racism

‘A Scuola di Tifo’ with William Vainqueur to say no to racism

William Vainqueur took a trip to the Istituto di via dell’aeroporto this morning to meet ‘A Scuola di Tifo’ ('Teaching support') and discuss the fight against racism

The campaign backed by AS Roma and Roma Cares has been set up to raise awareness among primary and middle school students of sport's values. Today Vainqueur met Lazio fan Simone, 16, who racially abused the Frenchman on Instagram following the derby.

The youngster later apologised on social media and came up from Naples earlier today to say sorry in person.

The Giallorossi player tweeted to accept the teenager's apology, before praising his courage today: “I initially answered Simone so that everyone would stop and think. Today I thank him and his father who came with him for the bravery they've shown.”

Simone then encouraged the schoolkids in attendance not to make the same mistakes: “I wanted to publicly apologise to Vainqueur. I'm absolutely mortified. You should never insult anyone based on the colour of their skin. That should never happen, be it in football or daily life.”
