Alisson picks No.19

Following the permanent acquisitions of on-loan players Antonio Rudiger, Stephan El Shaarawy, Norbert Gyomber, Nura and Sadiq Umar in recent weeks, the Giallorossi ranks have been further bolstered by the arrivals of Gerson on Monday and now Alisson on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old joins Roma from Internacional, where he won four consecutive Campeonato Gaucho titles between 2013 and 2016.

The Brazilian will be wearing the No.19 jersey for the first time. At Internacional he chose 30 in his first season with the first team, then went with 22 for three years before switching to 27 and finally number 1.

Scudetto hero Walter Samuel is the biggest name to don the No.19 shirt for Roma since squad numbers were introduced in 1995-96. The Argentine wore it from 2000 to 2004.

Among the other players to opt for 19 down the years are Carmine Gautieri, in 1997-98, Julio Baptista, from 2008 to 2011, and Fernando Gago, in 2011-12.
