The Hall of Fame’s Class of 2016 will be chosen from a pool of 20 candidates, with the successful four players being selected by fan votes and a special commission formed by AS Roma. The 2016 commission is made up of Paolo Castellani, Massimo Germani, Gabriele Pescatore, Massimo Ruggeri and Iacopo Savelli, to whom the club extends its thanks.
On 31 May, the commission sorted the 20 players into the two categories drawn up by the club, dividing the history of AS Roma into two periods. There are 12 players in the 1927-69 category, with another eight in the 1970-2014 category.

As is customary, the commission will participate in the voting process. Each of the five members will express their personal preference. The fans – who represent majority opinion – will vote online and thus constitute a de facto sixth member of the commission.
The modification of the criteria by which the candidates have been divided this year has meant some changes to the voting system, which is the same for both categories. Each member of the commission will choose five players from each category, expressing their preference in descending order. Their first choice will receive 25 points, the second 18, the third 12, the fourth 9 and the fifth 7. Fans will cast their votes online.
Each fan is able to express their preference in each category. Fan votes will be added together to create an overall order of preference, with the players then receiving points according to that order. Players selected by the fans will be awarded double points: 50 points for first place, 36 for second, 24 for third, 18 for fourth and 14 for fifth.
Fans and commission members are free to vote according to any criteria. These could include number of appearances, number of wins, general statistics, the personal and sporting development of the players, their emotional bond with the club and their contribution to the club’s achievements. The 20 candidates were also selected according to the same principles.
Online voting for the 1927-79 category will begin on Saturday 18 June and end on Saturday 25 June. Voting for the 1970-2014 category will then begin on Monday 27 June and end on Monday 4 July.
Four candidates will be inducted into the AS Roma Hall of Fame Class of 2016. The three players with the highest points totals from the 1927-69 category will be joined by the single highest-scoring player from the 1970-2014 category.
