Gasperini: Both teams want to continue their good run

Gaspo

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini believes his side will have to play to their strengths if they are to get a positive result against Roma on Sunday

Atalanta go into the game on a blistering recent run of form, having picked up 15 points from their last seven games and risen towards the took of the embryonic Serie A table.

Roma, currently second in the standings, will pose a sterner test - but Gasperini hopes his side can continue their forward momentum.

"We expect a tricky match because Roma are a strong side on good form," Gasperini said. "They're currently a very good team both as a unit and in terms of individuals, however we're also on an excellent run and we want that to last as long as possible.

"We have to play to our strengths if we want to stop Roma."

Gasperini believes the game with the Giallorossi will be great test of his side's true abilities - and show what they can really go on to achieve this season as they enter a demanding phase of the campaign.

"I'm keen to see how we can compete with one of the league's most in-form teams," he noted. "We know all about Roma's ability, so we'll need to be switched on but not abandon our playing style. The aim is to keep playing well.

"Yes, we are this season's surprise package but we haven't got above our station because we know it's a long old season and we have a fearsome month between now and Christmas."
