The draw for the play-off stages took place in Nyon earlier on Friday, with Roma travelling to Portugal for the first leg on 17 August.
“We play the first leg at home and our fans' support will be very important,” declared Espirito Santo. “This could prove crucial, provided we treat each game like a cup final. That's the mindset we want for the team. We're motivated and really want to be in the Champions League.”
Though Roma were one of the toughest sides Porto could have faced in the draw, Espirito Santo was quick to acknowledge that there are no easy games at this level.
“All our possible opponents in the draw were tough prospects. We were aware of how difficult it would be at this stage but we're really up for it, we want to be in the Champions League. But let's take things one step at a time. First of all, we still have Rio Ave to play and the next match is always the most important one.”
