Alessandro Florenzi was a second half substitute as Italy beat Israel to kick-off their 2018 World Cup qualification process on Monday.
The versatile Roma man came in the 67th minute for Giampiero Ventura's side, who had been reduced to 10 men following Giorgio Chiellini's red card not long before.
It was Florenzi's 23rd cap for his country, as the Azzurri picked up a valuable three points in Haifa.
A number of other Roma players will be involved in qualifiers for Russia 2018 today, in particular:
- Kevin Strootman in Sweden v Holland;
- Radja Nainggolan and Thomas Vermaelen in Cyprus v Belgium;
- Kostas Manolas in Gibraltar v Greece;
- Edin Dzeko in Bosnia and Herzegovina v Estonia;
- Alisson in Brazil v Colombia.
Mohamed Salah's Egypt are also in Johannesburg for a friendly against South Africa.
