The Argentine midfielder started the game for Luciano Spalletti's side, coming off at half-time as the coach made wholesale changes in an eventual 16-0 win.
Spalletti used him in a holding role in midfield, allowing him the chance to dictate the tempo of the game while shielding the defence.
“It's a position I feel comfortable in," Paredes told reporters. "I'm trying to get used to it.
"I'm sure I can learn loads by playing alongside [Daniele] De Rossi.”
Are you staying at Roma?
“I'm a Roma player and for the moment I'm staying here – that's all I know. I don't know what will happen tomorrow.”
Luciano Spalletti has said you perhaps need to speed up your play a little. Has he asked you to do anything in particular?
“He's told me to try and play the ball first time and take just one or two touches. I'm sure that if I do that I can succeed with this team and do well in future.”
Do you think your tactical evolution under Marco Giampaolo at Empoli means you have a better chance of staying here?
“I hope so. My first choice would be to remain at Roma. If I keep working hard and improving on a daily basis, I think I'll stay.”
What's the difference between Spalletti and Giampaolo in terms of training methods?
“They're quite similar really. They both like to do a lot of work with the ball.”
