Alberto De Rossi laments 'bad day at the office'

De Rosis

Alberto De Rossi admitted that he was 'bitterly disappointed' after watching his side throw away a two-goal advantage and lose their opening Primavera league fixture against Virtus Entella on Saturday afternoon

The Giallorossi U19s looked to be cruising after goals by Edoardo Soleri and Keba Coly had seen them establish a 2-0 lead inside the first 12 minutes.

But the visitors struck back after the break and levelled the scores before snatching a winner deep into stoppage time.

“We're bitterly disappointed,” De Rossi bemoaned after the final whistle. “We were expecting things to go very differently.

“Now we need to roll up our sleeves and take a long, hard look at what went wrong in a strange game. It was an awful day at the office for us. It started off so brightly and finished terribly.”

What went wrong in the second half?

“We were playing well until the tempo picked up around the half-hour mark, then our opponents started getting to the ball before us. We need to look at a few things – both fitness-wise and in terms of our individual quality. We were fine all the time the game was played on a technical level but our opponents' pace caused problems for us.”

Then you conceded a third on the counter late on.

“We were poor on that free-kick. They cleared it and broke forward. I thought there was a clear foul on Antonucci that wasn't given but that's when the wheels came off completely.”

Your next game is away to Cagliari...

“If we play like we did today we'll find it hard wherever we go. There are no easy matches but we're not the team we saw out there today. We'll get better. We'll have a careful look at it all and make sure we turn up for the next one in a different guise. We didn't play as a team today because we didn't cover the space well.”
