Serie A Team of the Week: Matchday 7

team of ht week

Here is Forza Italian Football's Serie A Team of the Week for Matchday 7

Samir Handanovic – Inter

The Nerazzurri conceded two goals, but Roma could have scored plenty more if it wasn’t for the Slovenian. His save on Edin Dzeko’s header in the second half was phenomenal: reminiscent of the iconic Gordon Banks save on Pele.

Gabriel Paletta – AC Milan

That goal gives the Rossoneri the craziest three points, but also the most crucial after a game where composure mattered more than performance. To be fair to Paletta, it’s not his fault if his teammates at the back make mistakes.

Kostas Manolas – Roma

Was Mauro Icardi even on the pitch at the Stadio Olimpico? It’s a question many could ask, as the Greek defender made the Inter captain disappear. Manolas also found time in his busy day to score the winner.

Rafael Toloi – Atalanta

Arkadiusz Milik was one of the most in-form strikers in Serie A, but proved not to be a problem in Bergamo. Toloi and the whole Atalanta back three easily controlled him for 90 minutes.

Alex Sandro – Juventus

The Brazilian, as always, was a machine on the left flank, producing crosses going forward and now also being very careful at the back. He assisted Paulo Dybala’s for Juve’s opener.

Manuel Locatelli – Milan

The emotion and tears of joy at the end of the game are exactly what makes people want to watch this sport. The 18-year-old came on for captain Riccardo Montolivo and scored the equaliser for Milan. A perfect scenario.

Hernanes – Juventus

Okay, he’s no Andrea Pirlo, but the Brazilian delivered a Pirlo-esque performance in Tuscany, directing play from deep and giving cover to the defence.

Alessandro Florenzi – Roma

This time, he was deployed in the line behind Dzeko and as always the Roman was perfect. His assist from the free-kick gave Manolas the chance to score the winner.

Alejandro Gomez – Atalanta (2 Team of the Week appearances)

Was it Papu or Lionel Messi on Atalanta’s left wing? What a game the Orobici captain had against Napoli: set up the winner and was a constant menace.

Gonzalo Higuain – Juventus (3 apps)

Two more goals to add to the tally; same old Higuain. His first one was an absolute beauty too, with his second being a cool and composed effort.

Ciro Immobile – Lazio

Ciro is back, and Lazio fans can celebrate. In Udine, Immobile scored two and did the hard work he’s used to. Crucial.
