Europa

Roma will discover which three teams they will face in the group stage of the Europa League on Friday

The Giallorossi are in Pot 2 for the draw, which takes place in Monaco at 13:00 CEST.

It will be the first time the club have played in the group stage of the competition since 2009-10, when they topped a group that also featured Fulham, FC Basel and CSKA Sofia.

Here's the key details you need to know ahead of the draw.

The Pots

48 teams compete in the group stage of the competition, separated into 12 groups of four.

To make the draw, teams are divided into four pots based on their UEFA co-efficient - with the 12 teams in the same pot unable to face each other.

Roma are in Pot 2, meaning they will face one team from each of Pot 1, 3 and 4. However, they cannot be drawn against another team from Serie A, meaning they cannot be drawn in the same group as Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Sassuolo, despite those teams being in different pots.

The draw is done in such a way to avoid any same-nation clashes during the group stage.

Here is the full list of the pots for the draw.

Pot 1: Schalke, Zenit St Petersburg, Manchester United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Athletic Bilbao, Olympiakos, Villarreal, Ajax, Inter Milan, Fiorentina, Anderlecht, Viktoria Plzen

Pot 2: AZ Alkmaar, Braga, Salzburg, AS Roma, Fenerbahce, Sparta Prague, PAOK, Steaua Bucharest, Genk, APOEL, Standard Liege, St Etienne

Pot 3: Gent, Young Boys, Krasnodar, Rapid Vienna, Slovan Liberec, Celta Vigo, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Feyenoord, Austria Vienna, Mainz, FC Zurich, Southampton

Pot 4: Panathinaikos, Sassuolo, FK Qarabag, FK Astana, Nice, Zorya Luhansk, Astra Giurgiu, Konyaspor, Osmanlispor, FK Qabala, Hapoel Beer-Sheva, Dundalk
