Alisson's World Cup adventure ends after quarter-final agony

GKL

Alisson Becker and Brazil saw their World Cup hopes come to a crushing end on Friday, as they were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Belgium.

Belgium ran out 2-1 winners in the last-eight clash, thanks to an own goal from Miranda and strike from Kevin De Bruyne.

Substitute Renato Augusto scored in the second half to halve the deficit but, despite plenty of pressure, Brazil were unable to find the equaliser they needed.

Alisson's exit ends the involvement of Roma players at this summer's tournament in Russia. The goalkeeper played all five games for the Selecao, keeping three clean sheets.

Aleksandar Kolarov and Serbia were knocked out in the group stage, while Federico Fazio and Argentina saw their campaign ended by France in the last-16.
