Edin Dzeko knows he can still be even more effective in front of goal, despite scoring twice against Crotone in Roma's 4-0 win on Wednesday.
The striker now has four goals from the opening five games of the season - a mark it took him 20 games to reach last term - and seems to have developed a great understanding with Francesco Totti, who provided the assist for Dzeko's first goal of the night with a sublime ball in behind the defence.
“I’ve started well. I scored two goals tonight but I missed a few chances against Fiorentina and we lost," Dzeko said. "But it was important to win tonight.”
“It’s always good to play with [Totti]. When he gets the ball I know I need to peel off the back of the defenders – I scored another goal like the one against Sampdoria tonight like that.”
After getting off to a fast goalscoring start this season, Dzeko was asked how he compares himself to the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Carlos Bacca and Mauro Icardi.
“They’re all great forwards but right now I feel great and it’s showing," he said. "I’ve scored four goals in five games but I need to give more and be even more clinical with every chance, as the boss says. I hope to do that in the future.”
