The France international provided the assist for Stephan El Shaarawy's opener during an impressive hour played in SIcily.
How important is this win?
“It was a crucial victory following the league defeat to Napoli. We produced a good performance at a tough ground and bounced back after the Lyon loss. I think it was an excellent team showing tonight.”
Does you coming into the team show have much strength in depth Roma have?
“Yes, that’s important and I think a big team like Roma needs a big squad. The boss brought in some of the players that have been involved less and everyone stepped up to the plate. That’s what matters – to be in it together as a team and a group.”
What are the team’s objectives for the rest of the season?
“We need to cut the gap with Juventus as much as possible, but on top of that we’re still in contention in two other competitions. There’s still a long way to go in the league with plenty of matches left to play and we’ll do our best to keep progressing.”
Going back to the Europa League tie, do you think Roma are a better side than Lyon?
“The first leg was a tough match for us and now we have a tricky one at the Olimpico. Roma are capable of scoring two goals against them so we hope to produce a big performance in front of our fans on Thursday to secure qualification.”
