Salah put in an impressive individual performance - providing the assist for Mohamed Elneny's smart first-half opener - as Egypt led for much of the match, but Cameroon equalised through Nicolas Nkoulou before Vincent Aboubakar's 87th minute finish settled the contest.
Salah dazzled the Cameroon defence time and time again, including with the pinpoint pass that allowed Arsenal's Elneny to open the scoring, but ultimately was thwarted as Hector Cuper's side looked to win the tournament for the first time since 2010.
Salah had an impressive individual tournament, providing an assist and a goal as Egypt won their second and third group games 1-0 to progress as winners of Group D.
Another goal and a converted penalty followed as Egypt beat Burkina Faso in the semi-finals, before Salah rounded off his fine competition with another assist in the final.
