Dzeko pleased with 'important' victory

DZKOE

Edin Dzeko acknowledged the team had delivered an "important" win over Palermo on Sunday, after a tough run of recent results for the side.

Dzeko grabbed his 30th goal of the season to help clinch victory for the Giallorossi - as Stephan El Shaarawy and Bruno Peres also got on the scoresheet.

“This is an important win – I think that’s clear," Dzeko said. "It’s not been great this past week so it was vital that we won tonight.

"We’ve scored three goals without conceding and that’s important for our confidence ahead of Thursday night. I feel just as important as everyone else. Some of the lads that have played less came in tonight and everyone involved did well.”

Did the fringe players prove they can be relied on tonight?

“Absolutely. Some of the players that have played every game were given a rest tonight and the others that came in to replace them did very well. We can be confident because everyone has shown that they can play an important role in the future.”

Do you still believe you can win the Scudetto?

“We’d lost three matches in a row so it was important to win tonight - that's it.”

How much do you want to finish the season as the league’s top scorer?

“There are so many great players in this league. I’m happy to have found the back of the net against after going three or four games without scoring, but the most important thing is that the team won.”

You’re up against it in every competition now…

“We’ve won tonight and that will restore some of the confidence we’d lost recently. Now we need to look to the future and focus on pulling off a big result on Thursday. It’s a huge match in our season.”
