Roma and Cesena had never produced a 2-1 scoreline in 28 previous meetings, making Wednesday's result a first. 1-0 (six times) to the Giallorossi remains the most common scoreline when the pair meet. An honourable mention goes to 2-0 to Roma, which has occurred four times in the past.
ROMA WINS (14) – 1-0 (6), 2-0 (4), 2-1 (1), 5-1 (1), 4-1 (1), 3-2 (1)

CESENA WINS (4) – 4-0 (1), 3-1 (1), 2-0 (1), 1-0 (1)
Roma have reached the last four of the Coppa Italia for the first time since 2013-14. The Giallorossi, then under Rudi Garcia, saw off Juventus in the quarter-final at the Stadio Olimpico with a neat backheeled finish from Gervinho from Kevin Strootman's pass, before meeting Napoli in the two-legged semi.
Roma won the first leg at home 3-2 with a superb strike from Strootman from outside the box, before losing 3-0 on the road to bow out of the competition at the penultimate hurdle. The victory over Cesena sees Roma into the semis for the first time in three years. They play Lazio next.
The Cesena game was Luciano Spalletti's 27th Coppa Italia tie as Roma coach. His record reads 16 wins, five draws and six defeats with 52 goals for and 30 against. The Tuscan coach had never previously played Cesena either in the league or cup as Roma boss.
The match against Cesena saw Luciano Spalletti move into the top three Roma coaches with the most matches in the domestic cup competition. He has now drawn level with Sven-Goran Eriksson. Nils Liedholm and Helenio Herrera lead the way.
Swede Liedholm - a Scudetto winner in 1983 who also lifted the Coppa Italia three times - took charge of 72 games in the competition (41 victories, 21 draws and 10 losses). Herrera sits second with 29 (W15, D8, L6), while Eriksson (W13, D9, L5) and Spalletti (W16, D5, L6) are third on 27. All of the men lifted the trophy at least once.
After featuring against Cesena, Francesco Totti has moved to within just one game of Franco Tancredi in the list of Roma's leading appearance makers in the Coppa Italia. The former Roma keeper is fifth on 58 matches, while the captain has now reached 57.
Giuseppe Giannini and Roberto Pruzzo lead the way for Roma in terms of domestic cup games and goals respectively. "Il Principe" made 79 appearances in the Coppa Italia, while "Il Bomber" struck 20 goals. Below are Roma's top 10 appearance makers and goalscorers in the competition:
APPEARANCES: Giannini 79, Santarini 70, B. Conti 64, Nela 63, Tancredi 58, Totti 56, De Rossi 54, Di Bartolomei 52, Pruzzo 48, Aldair 41.
GOALS: Pruzzo 20, Giannini 19, Totti 17, Rizzitelli 17, Di Bartolomei 15, Prati 13, Voeller 11, Mancini 11, Amadei 11, Cordova 10.
Francesco Totti's penalty past Federico Agliardi in Roma's 2-1 win over Cesena in the Coppa Italia was his 100th goal under Luciano Spalletti. The captain struck for the first time under the Tuscan in a UEFA Cup match against Aris on 15 September 2005. The Giallorossi won 5-1 that day, with the skipper bagging the fifth goal as well.
The Totti-Spalletti partnership became even more successful the following season. Picked as a centre forward in a 4-2-3-1 system, Totti had a wonderful season in front of goal, scoring 26 times in the league to claim the European Golden Shoe.
No Giallorossi player has scored so many goals under the same coach in the club's near-90-year history. But for two serious injuries in February 2006 (broken ankle) and April 2008 (torn cruciate) and the number 10's tally would be even higher.
The only man who comes closer is "Il Bomber" Roberto Pruzzo. Under Nils Liedholm he struck 92 times in 196 appearances. Pedro Manfredini sits third: the Argentine hit 79 goals in 107 appearances under Alfredo Foni in the 1960s.
Roma 2-1 Cesena was the Giallorossi's 331st match in the Coppa Italia and their 175th win. They have drawn 75 and lost 81, scoring 543 and conceding 336 goals.
