Olympique Lyonnais drew 1-1 with Bordeaux in their last match before Roma visit Parc OL for the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie on Thursday

The draw away at Bordeaux’s Stade Matmut Atlantique on Friday evening saw Bruno Genesio’s men consolidate their fourth-place standing and maintain a four-point advantage over Bordeaux.

Lyon fell behind on the night to a 16th-minute Valentin Vada goal, but sealed the draw on 79 minutes thanks to Emanuel Mammana’s equaliser.

“I’m disappointed – we gave them too many chances,” Genesio said after the game. “Now we need to focus on recovering ahead of a huge game against a great side like Roma.”

The Lyon manager also issued a rallying cry to the club’s fans ahead of Thursday’s match.

“We want the fans to create the kind of atmosphere we had against Monaco last year for the Roma game,” he said, referring to Lyon’s 6-1 win over Monaco on the penultimate day of last season, when 60,000 fans turned up to cheer on the side.
