Totti honoured by new limited edition Tiempo boot

Francesco Totti has revealed the inspiration behind Nike’s new limited edition Tiempo Totti X Roma boot.

The boots – limited to just 2,500 pairs, 100 for each year of Totti’s incredible career – went on sale today.

“I’m honoured that Nike have designed these especially for me,” revealed Totti. “When I thought about a boot that could reflect the 25 years of my career, I immediately thought of gold. The gold symbolises my city and the success that I’ve had with Roma and the national team.

“This boot had to encapsulate all my values - my family, AS Roma and the city of Rome. Nike understood straightaway how to create these boots.

“Nike are always spot on when it comes to sportsmen’s demands over detail and that was the case with this project too. The boots have plenty of references to my career and my family. They’re the result of a lot of hard work.”

One detail that was never going to be missed was retaining the iconic tongue on the Tiempos…

“The tongue goes way back and it’s stayed with me over the years,” he smiles. “What can I say? I’ve grown fond of it!”
