Totti, 40, was at the club's Trigoria training ground on Tuesday to observe the first-team squad in action for one of the first times since his emotional retirement at the end of last season.
After enjoying a well-deserved summer holiday, the World Cup and Serie A winner is preparing for his new role as a director with his hometown team.
Totti, along with sporting director Monchi, managing director Mauro Baldissoni and new team operations manager Morgan De Sanctis, observed the morning training session held by head coach Eusebio Di Francesco.
Afterwards, both Monchi and Totti took to social media to express their excitement about the challenges and opportunities that await.
"Hard to find a better teacher, to understand everything about Roma," Monchi said, alongside a photo of him with Totti.
Totti later responded: "Thank you, Monchi, it is a pleasure for me to work alongside a professional with your experience. I hope that together we will do great things for Roma!"
