Pinzolo, Day 1: The squad arrives and the hard work begins

PRE

On Friday the squad travelled from Rome to Pinzolo, to get pre-season training ahead of the 2017-18 season underway in the (relative) calm of the Dolomite mountains

The players left Rome's Termini station early on Friday morning, arriving in the city of Trento shortly after lunchtime. The team bus then took the squad the rest of the way to their base for the week, in the town of Pinzolo.

After settling in, the squad headed out for a first training session of the campaign - a warm-up of sorts to get over any lingering travel fatigue.

The players spent 40 minutes in the gym, before finishing off with a 20-minute mini-match on the Stadio Pineta turf.

The game ultimately finished 0-0, with Alisson saving a penalty from Diego Perotti in the most notable moment (10:35 in the above video).

What was said?

Defender Juan Jesus spoke to Roma TV prior to the day's training session...

"It was a good season last term, we gained the most points in the history of the club - but now we want to do better and know we can," Jesus, after the squad arrived in Pinzolo to begin pre-season."I have faced Sassuolo a lot of times and it was always difficult. Now [Di Francesco] is our Mister and he will be a great boost to us, especially as someone who likes the tactical side of things. It's a great thing also because there is the right enthusiasm around the place to do well."
