Perotti savours last-gasp winner

The winger admitted it was an honour to play such a significant role on such an emotional occasion.

“Edin gave me this lovely lay-off and I just smashed it into the net. I want to apologise to the Genoa fans though because they mean a lot to me. If it hadn't been such an important goal, I'd never have celebrated like that. I'm sorry for them but it was an amazing moment for me – even more so because Francesco deserved to win this game.

“Getting that third goal today and giving the captain a victorious send-off was the most important thing. We couldn't draw his last game for Roma!”

Second place caps off a great season and made Francesco's party that much more special. It's one of those games you never forget...

“I'd never have forgotten this match anyway but having scored the winner I'm obviously going to cherish it forever.

“I'll be able to tell my boy that I played on the same team as one of the best footballers in the world in his last match for Roma. I couldn't ask for anything more from football.”

What amazes you most about Totti?

“We all know Totti the player but what's surprised me is his humility. Everyone knows how he plays the game but he's always been so down to earth with us despite being such a star.

“He's an amazing guy and an amazing team-mate. I'll always remember Francesco the man. And I'll always be able to tell people he's a wonderful person.”

How much did the crowd help today?

“If the stadium were like that every match, we'd be able to perform even better. It's incredible the way the fans drive you on and it's thanks to them that we won today. You can really feel them behind you.

"We could achieve great things next year if the stadium was like that every week.”
