Moreno ready to confront biggest challenge of his career

GEIM

Hector Moreno is doing everything he can to make the most of what he calls 'the biggest challenge' of his career as he settles into life at Roma.

Moreno is adamant that the Giallorossi represents the biggest and most important move of his professional career - and is doing all he can to adjust to his new surroundings so he can hit the ground running when the new season gets underway.

“I’m happy to play for a great team like Roma, and to be in the dressing room with so many big players,” Moreno said. “I’m trying to settle in as quickly as possible and develop the best relationship with teammates and the staff. I’m getting on well with everyone."

When asked about a teammate that has stood out to him so far, Moreno added: “I’ve known of Daniele De Rossi for a long time and have followed his career with Roma and the Italian national team. I know what he represents for this club. He’s an experienced player with a great record.

"But he is also still always there, working hard, helping his teammates and trying to get better. He’s an example to follow.”

The Mexico international added that, as a defender, he is particularly looking forward to getting to grips with the tactical demands in a country known for its outstanding defensive organisation.

“This aspect intrigues me a lot,” Moreno said. “Dutch football does not necessarily put a huge importance on the tactical aspect and doesn’t insist on certain things like Italian football.

“This is the biggest challenge for me. Since the beginning of my career I have been working to make it to the highest level. I’m happy to be here, and aware of the responsibility I have – especially as a representative of Mexican players. I am sure if I do well more directors will look at Mexican football with interest.”
