Women's team confirm squad for inaugural season in Serie A

The side, AS Roma Femminile, will compete in Serie A this season. The campaign gets underway on September 15.

The squad, coached by Elisabetta Bavagnoli, will begin pre-season preparations on August 6 at their training base in Rome, before heading to Cascia, Umbria from August 20-24 for further intensive work.

Before that, however, on August 13 the club will host a friendly against New York’s Union College.

“It is a great honour to be here, I want to thank Roma for giving me this opportunity,” Bavagnoli said.

“I want to try and transmit to my players the feeling I had when I entered Trigoria for the first time: a huge desire to build something successful and lasting.”

The Italy international defender Elisa Bartoli will captain the club.

“To wear the captain’s armband, and represente all Romans and Romanisti, is an honour and a privilege,” Bartoli said.

“I have been waiting seven years to return to my city, I will try to lead this club with everything I have.”

The team will play their home matches at Roma’s historic Stadio Tre Fontane facility.

Club Hall of Fame member Sebino Nela will assume responsibility for the department, and will oversee the team throughout the campaign.
