See what head coach Eusebio Di Francesco had to say in the wake of Friday's 1-0 win over FC Slovacko.

The Giallorossi beat the Czech side thanks to Sadiq Umar's late winner, ensuring a victorious end to a hard week's work in Trentino.

That was a real match today, and not easy. How do you think it went?

Di Francesco: “It was important for us to see the kids in action, and they're further ahead in terms of fitness. Our quality showed in the second half. I was happy with the way we played – we kept tight as a unit. I'm happy with how we played as a team.”

What about your possession play?

“We can't expect the lads to be all that sharp on 14 July, or for everything to come off for the younger guys. Our opponents made it hard for us physically today. [Diego] Perotti wasn't fully fit but then they all need to improve their fitness levels.

“As for our possession play, I expected us to have some difficulty but we did better in the second half. I'd like to say again how well the team performed as a unit: they stayed together at all times and never got stretched out.”

How did Bruno Peres do?

“I'm pleased with his defensive effort. We need to work with him more on a mental level than a physical one; he needs to get used to working in unison with the backline. He did really well today.”

If Roma were to sign Gregoire Defrel, do you see him more as backup for Edin Dzeko or as a wide forward?

“First of all, he's not a Roma player just yet. Personally I see him as a centre forward but he could also do a job out wide. I've done a lot of work with him at centre forward and I think that's where his skills are best utilised.”

What do you make of Gerson?

“My first impression is that he needs to play the ball more quickly and improve his off-the-ball movement. It's just a question of habit. I'm convinced he'll get better.”

The internationals return to the fold tomorrow. What do you expect them to add?

“We haven't got much time because we'll be playing just three days after we arrive in the States. Some of them will have to play without being in top condition because we just don't have the numbers, but it's something we have to do to fly the Roma flag.”
