eSports: Aman determined ahead of FIWC Americas Regional Finals

Before competing in the FIFA Interactive World Cup Regional Finals in Los Angeles this weekend, Aman answered some questions about his past events and future goals as a member of Roma eSports...

How has your life been different since becoming one of AS Roma’s first three eSports players?

"I've been practising much harder, a lot more, and paying more attention to my gameplay than ever before. I've been doing this because I want to represent the Roma fans as best as I can. Also, it's changed because now there are a lot more people relying on successful performances from myself. And I want to bring that success to all of the fans and people associated with Roma eSports that deserve a championship from me while I'm under the AS Roma banner."

What’s been your proudest moment as a pro player thus far?

"Definitely qualifying for all three of the Regional events and competing against the best players from North and South America. Those guys are all top players. And hopefully playing against the other top players from Europe and Rest of World in the FIWC Grand Final. Just being a part of these events that EA and FIFA has been throwing has been amazing."

What is the biggest challenge of being an eSports athlete?

"The biggest challenge is having to play the same guys over and over again in the Americas region that know my play style in and out. This forces me to adapt, change my play style and be a little more creative than I'm used to."

How does it feel to face the likes of PSG, Valencia, Ajax and Lyon on the virtual pitch?

"Really it's just an honour to play against other clubs that are of that high of stature. Seeing them get into eSports as well, it makes playing FIFA at that high of level even more of an honor while competing under our respective banners."

Has signing for Roma put any unnecessary pressure on your performance or do you use it as confidence?

"I think there's always going to be pressure playing for a team like Roma, but it's about using that pressure to push me even harder to improve my game and get the necessary wins. Dealing with pressure is something I've been working on and I want to continue playing under it so I can play and win no matter what the circumstances."

What has been your favourite tournament to compete in as a member of AS Roma and why?

"My favourite tournament to compete in definitely has to be the Miami Regional, but Vancouver was a great event to be at as well. EA does a great job with production, the casters are always on point, and the staff at the events are amazing. Being able to be apart of this first wave of EA events has been unreal."

You’re headed to Los Angeles to compete in one of the most notable FIFA tournaments in the world – what are your thoughts going into this event?

"Going into FIWC, it's my first opportunity being able to compete for a spot here. I've been trying to do it online in the past years and have been close to qualifying for the main touranament where I've watched the greats like Nenad Stojkovic, Bruce Grannec, that I've always looked up to. Being able to have the chance to get where they got this year is insane and I really hope I can bring out the win here to book my spot in London."

After competing in the Miami and Vancouver regionals, what will you change (if anything) in terms of your preparation and strategy for the FIWC?

"I think I've prepared properly throughout the year, I'm not sure how much a player can truly improve this late into the iteration of FIFA. But playing people that are going to be at the event is always a good way to prepare, as I can know which guys I need to keep an eye out for. Maybe this tournament I might go a little bit more defensive so I can grind out some victories instead of trying to outscore my opponents through my counter-attacking tactics."

What do you want to say to the AS Roma fans who have been supporting you throughout your journey with the club?

"To all of you AS Roma fans out there, I'm going to bring home a win here, we're going to make it to FIWC Grand Finals. London is coming and Roma eSports will be there! Forza Roma!"

What are your goals for next season and beyond?

"My future goals are to win as many tournaments as possible and take my competitive level higher than I've ever taken it before. "
