Kolarov: We didn't deserve to lose

KAGKO

Aleksandar Kolarov dismissed suggestions that Saturday's defeat to Napoli was a decisive blow to Roma's domestic ambitions this season.

The Giallorossi fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Stadio Olimpico, leaving them adrift of their rivals who have now won their first eight games of the campaign.

Roma had plenty of chances in the second half, but in the end it was Lorenzo Insigne's fortunate early goal that settled the contest.

"We hit the bar and the post, it's true," Kolarov said. "I would say that it is too soon to start talking about the championship being over, we have only played eight or nine games and there are still seven or eight months to be played.

"We will see how we do over the next few months. We are working well and I would say have now lost two games [the home match with Inter] that we did not deserve to. But it is what it is. In three days we have another game in the Champions League and then Torino away: we must do what we can to be better in these games and going forward."

Kolarov disputed the suggested that Roma had shown their visitors too much respect.

"We know that Napoli are a good side, but we respect every team in the league," he said. "They always play well and perhaps in the first half they were able to play their football, but in the second half we did much better and played our game. They got the goal thanks to a fortunate deflection and at the end of the day it's hard to say they deserved to win.

"At any rate, that's what happened and we have to push forward now."
