Perotti plays 15 minutes on long-awaited international return

After a six-year absence from the side, Diego Perotti was back in the Argentina team on Saturday - coming on for the last quarter of an hour in the 1-0 friendly win away to Russia.

The Giallorossi winger replaced Angel Di Maria with the game still goalless. His club team-mate Federico Fazio stayed on the bench.

“I’m very happy to be here,” Perotti declared after full-time. “I’m enjoying this opportunity as much as I can. I’ve worked very hard to get back in the national team and I thank God it’s happened.”

Perotti shared his satisfaction about making his return to international football on Instagram as well: “Another dream come true… Vamos Argentina.”
