Genoa 1-1 Roma: Match report, reaction and key statistics

Roma's record-breaking away winning streak came to an end on Sunday, as the Giallorossi drew 1-1 with Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

The Giallorossi - looking to extend their run to 13 away victories in Serie A - took a second half lead through Stephan El Shaarawy, only to be pegged back by Gianluca Lapadula's penalty 10 minutes later.

Daniele De Rossi was dismissed prior to Lapadula's penalty - with the 10-men unable to grab a late winner, as Kevin Strootman hit the bar in the closing stages.

Roma reaction

“It’s a moment that I’m incredibly sorry about. There’s not much to say: we were tussling, I tried to block him with an arm – the footage is ugly.“I have to apologise to my teammates, the coach and the fans. I am very sorry – but we will have to bounce back from this.”

- Daniele De Rossi

“Daniele is not a youngster and he knows that. He’s able to take responsibility. But he’s part of a team and when we draw or lose, the loss goes for everyone, not an individual. We need to do more work, together, to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again."When it’s about quality of play, we’re a top side. However, when we fall short of our opponents in our attitude, things like this – which are unacceptable – can happen.”

- Eusebio Di Francesco
