Fiorentina 2-4 Roma: Match report, reaction and key statistics

TPO

Roma set a new Serie A record - and rounded off another productive week - with a hard-fought and dramatic 4-2 victory over Fiorentina on Sunday.

The Giallorossi, back in domestic action after the European heroics against Chelsea in midweek, made it 12 away wins in a row with the triumph at the Stadio Artemio Franchi - a new all-time record in the Italian top flight.

Gerson scored his first two goals for the club to set Roma on their way, although Jordan Veretout and Giovanni Simeone ensured the sides were level at the break.

In the second half, however, Kostas Manolas's instinctive finish and a late clincher from substitute Diego Perotti proved enough to see Eusebio Di Francesco's side home with all three points.

Roma reaction

"I'm really happy with the two goals and to get the win. All my teammates have shown so much faith in me. I'm very happy to have scored my first two goals for the club."

- Gerson

"Those were the first goals we’ve conceded away from home in Serie A this season. It was a great game with real intensity. It looked like we had the match right where we wanted it in the first half, but then we conceded. We were well aware of how good Fiorentina are – they’re a great team and you have to hand it to them for how they played today. We were expecting lots of desire after their bad defeat against Crotone. They’re a good side and I can assure you that it’s never easy to win here."

- Eusebio Di Francesco
