Dzeko scored just after half-time to turn the tie on its head, as Roma won 1-0 on the night to secure a 2-2 draw on aggregate - and progression to the last-eight on away goals.
Dzeko was substituted in the closing stages to a standing ovation.
"The standing ovation I got today belongs to everyone, because we all gave our absolute everything right until the last minute," Dzeko said. "We deserve to be in the quarter-finals.
"I'm not thinking about who we could get in the next round, because all the sides are good and when we play we know the stadiums will be full both home and away. We can play against anyone.
"We are one of the eight strongest sides left in Europe, and so we must be strong like the others."
