Dzeko: We had our chances but didn't do enough

Edin Dzeko acknowledged the squad may have been slightly distracted by the upcoming game against Barcelona, after drawing 1-1 with Bologna on Saturday.

Dzeko came off the bench to rescue a point for the Giallorossi, on an afternoon where little seemed to go in Roma's favour at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.

“It’s hard to explain [this performance],” Dzeko said afterwards. “In the first half we were a bit slow, with the ball we did not move around enough.

"Having said that, we still created some good chances. They had one shot and scored.”

Dzeko played down suggestions that leaving him out of the starting line-up was a mistake - but acknowledged that Wednesday's game against Barcelona perhaps played on the players' minds.

“They are other strong players that can start too,” Dzeko said. “Patrik [Schick] is still young, he needs to improve and playing will help him do that. We will take the point we’ve got, even if it is also two points dropped.

“If we had won then no-one would have had anything to say. Clearly we had the next game in the back of our minds a little bit, a game against one of the best sides in the world, but even so we had our chances in this one."

He added: "We'll have to go to the Camp Nou with a bit more aggression and determination, otherwise it'll be tough for us."
