On Wednesday morning nine individuals - none of them employed by Roma - were arrested, in connection with an investigation into aspects of the Tor di Valle process.
Prosecutors have confirmed that the club and the stadium approval process itself is not under scrutiny and Raggi, subject to a comprehensive review of procedures so far, is confident this means the important project can move forward.
“Our starting point is what the prosecutors in Rome have already confirmed: that everything about the [stadium approval] process so far seems totally legitimate," Raggi said.
"For the confidence of the citizens, the administration - along with AS Roma - will immediately conduct a thorough review of everything.
“If this verification process confirms everything is fine, we will be able to proceed. For everything else, we respect the legal process.
"We would like to continue with this project with legal approval, and such confirmation would be another stamp of approval for a hugely important project.”
Mayor Raggi met with Roma managing director Mauro Baldissoni on Friday morning to discuss the impact of the investigation and the steps all parties now need to take.
Baldissoni added: “Clearly, we felt it was necessary to make a point of meeting the Mayor and the administration to review what has happened in the last few days and evaluate the procedures open to us to try and safeguard a project we have worked on for many years.”
