Stats to Know: 10 facts ahead of semi-final decider

IMAG

Ahead of Wednesday's Champions League semi-final second leg, we have rounded up 10 key statistics to know about the match.

Roma need to overturn a three-goal deficit from the first leg if they are to reach the final of the competition for just the second time in their history...

1. Tough task

No side has ever progressed after losing the first leg 5-2 in the history of the European Cup or Champions League. The last time a first leg finished with that scoreline, Valencia lost 1-0 against Lazio in 2000 to progress 5-3 on aggregate.

2. Goals galore

The first leg at Anfield saw seven goals scored - equalling the record for a Champions League semi-final game. Ajax also beat Bayern Munich 5-2 back in 1995.

3. Familiar feeling

This is Liverpool's 10th semi-final in the Champions League: the Reds qualified in seven of the last nine times, with the only two defeats coming against Inter Milan (1965) and Chelsea (2008).

4. Wait over

This is Roma's first European semi-final in 27 years - the last coming against Brondby in the UEFA Cup in 1991. The Giallorossi's last Champions League semi-final appearance came in 1984 (when it was known as the European Cup). On that occasion Roma produced a comeback to reach the final: beating Dundee United 3-0 after losing the first leg 2-0.

5. On lockdown

Roma are the only side in this season's Champions League to still not have conceded a goal at home (five games). The Giallorossi have won their last four at the Olimpico - they have never won five in a row at home in Europe.

6. Undefeated

Liverpool are the only unbeaten side in the Champions League this season (seven wins, four draws).

7. Lethal in attack

Jurgen Klopp's side have scored 33 goals in the competition this term, the most ever by an English side. Indeed, since the new format for the competition was introduced for the 2003-04 season, only Real Madrid (41 goals in 2013-14) have scored more.

8. Three-pronged approach

Liverpool are the first side in Champions League history to have three players have at least eight goals in the competition (Salah 10, Firmino 10, Mane 8).

9. On a run

Edin Dzeko has scored in each of his last four Champions League games - a record for a Roma player.

10. You shall not pass

Alisson has saved all 20 of the shots on target he has faced at the Stadio Olimpico in the Champions League this season.
