Alessandro Spugna extends contract until 2026

AS Roma is thrilled to announce that Alessandro Spugna has signed a new contract with the club until 30 June 2026.

The coach guided the women's team to a second-place finish in his first year before winning the Scudetto and Italian Super Cup last season, when the Giallorosse also finished among the top eight teams in Europe.

This season Roma are again top of Serie A heading into the championship play-offs and have already secured UEFA Women's Champions League qualification for the third year running.

“I'm really happy to continue my work here at Roma,” Spugna commented. “In the last few seasons this club has shown it's the best in Italy.

“I want to thank the Friedkin family for their commitment and constant investment in the women's squad, Betty Bavagnoli and the management team for their faith in me, and the players and staff who work with me on a daily basis to help us achieve our goals.

“We'll keep working hard together to maintain our success year after year in Italy while trying to do even better in Europe”.

Roma's stats under Alessandro Spugna are impressive indeed: 270 goals in 106 matches with 85% of matches won in all competitions. In Serie A the Giallorosse have taken 172 points from 66 games during his tenure, averaging 2.5 points per match.

“Alessandro deserved a contract extension for the work he has done and the results he has achieved at Roma,” said Betty Bavagnoli, Head of Women's Football. “It is clear that both the team and the coach have grown and improved together during his time here.

“We thank Alessandro for everything he is doing and are looking forward to planning the future together with ambitious targets.”

    Congratulations, coach!
