The Match Pack: It's Supercoppa time!

Roma Women get 2022 underway with a big game on Wednesday: as they face AC Milan in the semi-finals of the Supercoppa. Here's what you need to know ahead of the game...

Alessandro Spugna's side head down to Latina in what will be a repeat of last season's Coppa Italia final, as the Giallorosse look to get the upper hand once again and book their place in the final at the weekend.

The game, which takes place at the Stadio Domenico Francioni, gets underway at 14:30 local time.

The other semi-final, which pits Juventus against Sassuolo, takes place at the Stadio Benito Stirpe in Frosinone (which will also host the final on Saturday) at 17:30 the same day.

    Form guide

Roma have won seven games straight in all competitions, an incredible way to finish off 2021. It is the longest winning streak in the club's history.

AC Milan, meanwhile, enter the game on the back of a two-game losing streak in the league to close out the calendar year, against Inter Milan and Juventus, although they did ensure progression in the Coppa Italia thanks to a 3-0 win over Hellas Verona.

    Statistics to know

Roma are playing in the Supercoppa for the second season in a row, and the second time in the club's history. Last year Betty Bavagnoli's side went out of the semi-finals after an extra-time defeat against Juventus - Cristiana Girelli scoring the decisive goal in the 115th minute.

The two teams have faced each other on eight previous occasions, with the Rossoneri winning five of them. They have not, however, won any of the last three (which all ended up level at the end of 90 minutes).

Roma have scored fewer goals against AC Milan (five) than any other team they have faced more than three times. All three of those games have come in Serie A meetings between the sides.

Alessandro Spugna's side conceded fewer shots on goal than any other side in the first half of the Serie A campaign (93) - of which only 31 were shots on target.

    Opponent spotlight

Milan have conceded eight goals in their last three games in all competitions (one win, two defeats), one more than they managed in the 13 games prior to that.

The side have seen 11 different players score in the league so far this season - more than any other side.

The only hat-trick of Valentina Bergamaschi's career came in the Supercoppa - as she scored three for Brescia in a 4-1 win in the final.

Valentina Giacinti is the only player to have scored a Supercoppa goal for Milan - last January in their game against Fiorentina. She is also the only Milan player to have scored in all three competitions (league, Coppa Italia, Champions League qualifiers) that the club has played in so far this season.

Giacinti has scored five goals against Roma in all competitions - more than any other Rossonere player.

    Roma focus

Camelia Ceasar has won the Supercoppa on no fewer than four occasions in her career, more than any of her Roma teammates. All of those came while she was playing for Brescia.

Allyson Swaby is the only player to have scored a goal in the Supercoppa for Roma - she equalised in last season's eventual defeat to Juventus.

Annamaria Serturini is the only current Roma player to have managed a goal against AC Milan in her career.

Valeria Pirone is Roma's top goalscorer so far this season, with six goals overall (four in the league, two in the Coppa Italia). The Supercoppa could become the fourth club competition the Italy international has scored in (having previously also got on the scoresheet in the Champions League).

    Familiar faces

Lindsey Thomas hascored 14 goals in 49 games for Roma during her time at the club, and is the club's fifth leading goalscorer of all-time.

Martina Piemonte played for Roma during their inaugural 2018-19 season, scoring six goals in 22 games.

Among current Roma players, Thaisa, Camelia Ceasar and Manuela Giugliano all previously played for AC Milan for at least one season.

    Arbitro

Sarà Michele Giordano della sezione di Novara a dirigere la sfida tra Roma e Milan. Per lui è il primo incrocio con le giallorosse.
